The small silver she-cat barged in to the apprentice den, not caring who she awoke. Lilypool was here for a mission, she had thought this young apprentice about the land, but now its time to teach him about the hunt, the one where you can feel satisfied to feed your clan.
Stepping over some sleeping young cats she looked at her little one and barked down at him. Time to get up! Training is in session. Meet me at Rat field'', she then turned and left, trotting away to the field. She was happy today, plus the sun as getting up, it seemed to be a beautiful day.
Lilypool now waited at the edge of the field where a small human road was, she hopped Thornpaw was not late, she would not be mad, but she wanted to teach her apprentice the proper way. She would show him the best battle moves, how not to scare away the prey. But where was he? Thornpaw better not have fallen back asleep...
But really all she could think about was Skie, the loner, he was so handsome, so perfect, and he was all her's now. Plus she had news, though she would not tell anyone soon, maybe in a few days. She had a huge smile, and her eyes, well they showed bright.

The sound of his mentor's voice made the young tom jump, but was fortunately able to go back to sleep for a bit. It was only when he heard whispering in his ear that he jumped from his spot. His best friend, Nightpaw, looked as if she had been up for quite a while already. She was already padding out of the apprentices den and murmuring about something.
Shrugging, Thornpaw took the time to groom his pelt a little, and then it all registered with him...Nightpaw had wanted to play but now she was probably going to go do something that would cause her to get in trouble again. She looked like she was about to tackle an older warriors as a prank.
The black and white furred tom prodded his friend's side with his paw, hoping it would catch her attention and snap her out of her plans, whatever those might be. Grinning the tom tackled his friend, and soon the two apprentices were in a tumbling match, which turned into a play-fight. The two apprentices continued at this until Thornpaw shook his head, and said to stop. Nightpaw was still full of energy and willing to continue going, but honored her friend's decision and jumped off, beginning to lick some of the dirt off her pelt. What his mentor had said just a few moments ago had finally registered with the tom.
Saying goodbye to his friend, he raced out of camp, hoping he had heard the location right. After several moments had passed by he slowed as he neared the location, taking a moment to catch his breath. Grinning with excitement that he had heard correctly he padded toward his mentor, looking up at Lilypool. "Sorry for taking so long, Nightpaw distracted me." Thornpaw was probably one of the only cats the young she-cat could deal with, and he wasn't about to back down from some fun with his friend. "What will I be taught today?" he questioned curiously.

Lilypool looked around, Thornpaw wasnt really late, but she would rather see him early. But as she was just about to go look for him the tom appeared. Lilypool smiled, glad he made it in time. He was grinning, and looked up at Lilypool. "Sorry for taking so long, Nightpaw distracted me."She stood up and shook her eplt, thinking what she would teach him today. "What will I be taught today?" he questioned curiously.
''Well'', Lilypool moved around the young tom again and motioned for him to sit, ''I will teach you fighting techniques. Since you already know the basic of hunting i though you could get started on fighting a little early''. She winked and moved back, ready to show him what he would have to do.
''We shall learn a easy one. Front paw blow''. Lilypool pointed to the tree as if it was her opponent and moved, her eyes fierce, her face mad. She ran and hit the tree hard, on what it was suppose to be its face, making the 'cat'' fly back. ''Thats how you do it. You must bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head!''. She giggled and sat down, now looking at him. She knew he would try now, she just hopped he was good. ''Okay now try, practice makes perfect'', Lilypool looked down at her stomach now, she knew life was in there, she just hopped no one else noticed.

Thornpaw had been a bit nervous following his mentor. He hated being tardy for any appointment, and if it wasn't for Nightpaw, he would have probably been much earlier. He hoped she hadn't been waiting long. Keeping cats waiting was not a polite thing to do, especially if said cat was your mentor.
As Lilypool began to speak, he curled his tail around his paws as he sat down, listening intently to what his mentor had to say. At the mentioning of fighting the young tom flinched a little. If he had only known how to fight when he was younger, maybe his mother would have wanted him as her son...probably not. Then again, learning all these fighting moves would help with the skirmishes he had with Nightpaw, like the one just a few moments ago that he had lost.
Yes, it was true he knew the basics of hunting and a few days prior had caught his first prey. It had sent a grin wide across his face, he had been so proud of himself. Now, he was learning the other side of being a warrior. Puffing out his chest he stared at his mentor as she demonstrated what he would be learning. He nodded as she instructed, trying to remember every word. "On the head? That sounds like it wouldn't feel good at all." he commented. He sure wouldn't want to be hit in the head like that, it would give him a headache. Nodding he got onto his paws.
Thornpaw glanced at his target, and ran to a nearby bush, copying his mentor's movement. He wasn't able to get enough speed on his first attempt, and fell face first into the bush. "Sorry." he mumbled, getting up and shaking his pelt off to try again. He wasn't going to quit. Glaring at the bush he thought of his mother and the hatred he had for her. Charging once again, he was able to get enough speed, and lashing out his paw to hit the bush on the 'head'. It wasn't quite as powerful as his mentor's demonstration, but for his size it wasn't a bad effort. Turning to look back at Lilypool, Thornpaw blinked, waiting for her comment.

As Lilypool began to speak, her apprentice curled his tail around his paws as he sat down, he seemed to be paying close attention, his large kitten like eyes always watching. The she-cat now nodded, glad he was her apprentice, the tom was kind and well a good student. As she finished the young tom spoke, making his mentor giggle at his words. "On the head? That sounds like it wouldn't feel good at all." Lilypool smiled, ''That's exactly what we have to do Thornpaw, make them, hurt o we win, even though sometimes it can seem a little cruel''.
Lilypool watched now as her little guy looked at his target, and ran to a nearby bush. She could see he had not ran as fats as he should, and fell face first into the bush. ''No need to be sorry. Practiced makes perfect. Plus that was pretty good''. Charging once again Lilypool could see he would do just fine on this try. Thornpaw lashed out his paw and hit the bush on the 'head'. Lilypool jumped up, her eyes bright! She had just taught her apprentice his first fighting move! ''Thornpaw that was wonderful! So good i think i can give you one more move before we end the day. But if i do remember you got to practice both, even if one isn't your favorite''.
The silver tabby she-cat looked around, wondering what to teach him, them it came to her, Back kick. The she-cat nodded to him, in a way to say watch. Again She used the tree, this time she used it as a surprised attack. Judging her opponent's distance from her Lilypool then lash out with her back legs, taking her weight on her front paws. She lashed out with her back legs for one more moment, then smiled at him. ''Your turn. Just judge your opponent's distance from you carefully; then lash out with your back legs, taking your weight on your front paws''.

Thornpaw shuddered as his mentor mentioned cruelty. His mother had been cruel to him, and he still wonders to this day how he survived. Few knew just what his mother did to him, he wasn't going to tell, and she denied everything. He was glad when his mother's deeds were finally found out and he could live in peace. He still had the mental scars to prove it, and probably a few physical aswell. But now he was an apprentice, no longer that scared little kit.
As he listened to Lilypool's comment, he actually managed a slight smile. He had never been told that his first try was 'pretty good' he had always been called pathetic. Hearing such kind words, he didn't know how to respond. And then hearing that his hard work had paid off, he couldn't help but let that smile grow. This was so different, but he liked the positivity. He was going to learn another battle move! This was awesome! He could go and show Nightpaw! Maybe he could beat his best friend at this. "Of course, I'll make sure to practice everything I learn. I want to be able to make you proud." he purred.
The tom froze as he saw the next move he was going to learn. His mother had taught him this one first hand. This had been one way his mother had tortured him. He shuddered and looked up at Lilypool, eyes wide with fear. Thornpaw watched the warrior show the example and he sighed. He knew exactly how to do this move. His mother had beat him repeatedly with it, to teach him a lesson...not to ask about his father anymore.
Running toward his bush friend, he began his attack, executing the move quite perfectly as he lashed his back legs out strongly. His front paws slid out from under him, and his claws flexed out, to keep him balanced. Turning back to his mentor he frowned and looked to the ground, memories flooding back. Would she be mad like his mother had been? What would be his punishment for such a careless error? "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to use my claws. I promise it won't happen again." he said softly.
