Hazelpaw Hell rises and hell falls. Life goes on with the angel's song. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I woke up this morning feeling like something was missing. It was a terrible feeling and it caused my mind to race. My wide eyes flickered this way and that, trying to figure out why I felt this way. It was a nauseating feeling and it only made my head spin. Was something terribly wrong with me? My heart skipped a beat at the idea and I rose swiftly to look for my mentor. My ears were ringing and my heart was beating in my throat. Everything inside my stomach rolled and I swallowed down a wave of unease. I had to be sick, that was the only explanation that I had. My weight leaned against the place I had come to know as home and drew in quick breaths. I didn’t feel warm, I felt cold. Was it possible I had been dreaming? Or was it my old injury? It was healing yes, but it still caused me to be sluggish and often times I had issues with it. Was that what was going on now? I wasn’t sure. I needed to find Moonfeather. She would know what was going on. She always had the answers to everything and anything.
Walking out into the main opening, I stopped. What in all of Starclan was lying before me!? It looked like a slug, but it had a shell. I reached out a paw and touched it, watching it suck itself into its shell. I shoot backwards with a hiss. Dear warriors in the sky, what was this thing!? I batted at it, rolling it over and over. I kept sucking itself into its shell and it was really starting to freak me out. I skirted around it, heading for the herb den, but I found nothing of what I was looking for there. I wondered back out and my gaze was drawn to the small, crawling creature. My tail lashed as I looked at it. My steps were slow as I walked back over to it. Without thinking, I pounced on it and managed to miss. I couldn’t stretch my body out far enough to get the full length of a pounce and it quite distressed me, but I was focused on this thing and I didn’t even notice. I reached out with my front paws, lying on my stomach and began batting at it, ears pricked forward in pure delight.
For once in my life, I felt like a small kit all over again. It had been so long since I’d had fun in my life. Now, I was playing with some unknown creature, enjoying the living daylights out of myself. My tail was raised high over my body, flicking from side to side as a soft giggle rang from my vocal cords. I was more than a little delighted to have some fun. My aches and pains were all, but forgotten at this moment in time. I knew they would be back if I took my mind off of what I was going. I didn’t want them to come back. It was hard enough knowing I would never have kits, even if I wasn’t a medicine cat one day. My ears fell a top my head before pricking up once more as the small animal, or whatever it was began moving away from me. I army crawled forward and lightly touched it with a paw. It sucked itself up and stayed that way for a while. I kept doing this over and over, just playing with it, trying to learn it. Some days I wished I could just hide in a shell.

[bg=020202][atrb=border,0,table][atrb=width,500,table] In the early light of dawn washing upon the stone just outside of Rockclan's camp, a lone figure made her way slowly across the rough terrain, the rising sun seeming to follow in her path. Her slight silhouette entered the home that had become her own at birth, and began to carefully pick the way down to the medicine cat's den- her own den. Ears swiveled this way and that, catching every slight sound that was made in and near the camp, tail twitching at every vibration felt through soft treading paws. Fallingpebble was not very fond of the darkness that surrounded her now, she knew this land well enough not to run into any plants or dens, but she most certainly did not wish to be the victim of some randomly placed rock.
A hissed breath of relief was released around the bundle held between her teeth as she felt the familiar entrance of the den by flicking her tail out to meet the boulder's side. Keeping her body pressed close to a wall so that her gray fur brushed along it, the young medicine cat traced the passages placed permanently within her memory, only partially concentrating on the physical touch of the wall that assured she was going the right way. In this only half-focused state of mind, the she-cat was startled when she heard a playful giggle echo about the den. Dropping the leaf wrapped package in her sudden fright, Fallingpebble listened as a few of the collected Juniper berries bounced from the package.
Inhaling the scent of the source of this noise, realization spread through her being, and she relaxed from the guarded pose she had taken. It was only Hazelpaw, and from the sound of things, she was enjoying herself quite a bit. Allowing a small smile to reach her lips, Fallingpebble stood like that for a moment before speaking a soft greeting to the apprentice. "Goodmorning Hazelpaw, might I ask what brings you up at such an early hour?"

Hazelpaw Hell rises and hell falls. Life goes on with the angel's song. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I was enjoying playing with my new found friend that I wouldn’t have noticed anyone approaching me. My aches and pains were, but a fleeting memory at this moment and I couldn’t help that I often acted quite young. I blamed it on the fact that sometimes I just felt like I’d lost so much in my life. Sure, it wasn’t that big a deal, but bad things had happened and I’d lost most of my Kithood to those horrible things. Now, I liked to save lives and even life savers needed a break from the hard stuff. So, I would keep on playing and having fun till something came along to draw me away from it. That wasn’t something that happened often and well, when you were me, you just couldn’t help the need to find something, anything to entertain yourself with. I jumped from side to side, not even noticing the flash of movement so close to me. I knew there was something, but I was ignoring it, acting like I was a blind fool. It could have been the enemy, but they wouldn’t have known what to do with me since I was well, playing when I should have been busy doing other things.
My head popped up and I swung around to face Fallingpebble. I could feel embarrassment creeping into my eyes as I looked at her. Woops. I should have been looking for anyone who might watch what I was doing. Now, I felt really stupid. I brushed my paw acrossed the ground, thinking about how I was going to answer this question. I glanced side long at the creature I had been playing with before turning my attention back to the she-cat. “Good morning Fallingpebble. My injury was bothering me so I got up. Why are you up and about so early?” I probably should have known the answer to that question, but this was me and I asked things if that same question had been asked to me. Sometimes it seemed polite, other times it seemed rude to so much as bring it up, but I wasn’t one to really care about such things. It was in my nature to be questioning. Like if someone got injured and came to me I would need to know how it happened and where it happened and why they were being so foolish. It was good I started now.
