The sun was just rising above the horizon, the stars finally beginning to fade, but the whole world around Tornfoot was still asleep. As the tom wadded his way through the marsh he felt quite at ease, for he was at home and content. With each step the warrior felt his paws sink ever deeper into the wet muck, but Tornfoot was much to old to worry about being dragged under. As a kit he was told that, if he were to travel too close to the swamps edges, then a giant muck-cat would grab a hold of him and drag him to the depths of the swamp. He was told that such muck-monster would only do this to the most disobedient of cats and swallow them whole once he brought them down to his bone-filled nest. And, even though Tornfoot had only heard this from the queens and not from any warriors, as a kit he believed them. But that was moons ago, and Tornfoot was already a full-fledged warrior. Long before had he learned that there is no such thing as a muck-cat in the marsh and soon afterward got over his childhood-fear of swimming in the murky water.
Tornfoot made his way across the swamp toward a clump of reeds which sat on elevated ground, once he got there he pulled himself out of the water and onto the small island. The tom shook his paws free of mudd and heard a frog croak at his side, causing him to start and stare at the reeds. the frog croaked again and Tornfoot settled down a bit, "It's a little too early for noise, don't you think?" Mumbled the cat.

Lightningstar walked along the swamps of her clan. Wadding in the murky water silently, almost looking like a stick in the water. She quietly swam from island to island, being as silent as ever. Her fur clenched to her side and small amount og mud dripping off of her. She looked up at the sky and sees the sun starting to rise. "Perfect. i can easily sneak back into camp and wake Blizzardstorm before he wakes up." She thought to herself as she started wadding in the swamp again. As she swam in the swamp, shes sees the body of a cat on a small island surrounded by weeds and hears a frog close by. She floated in the murky water, fur blending into it quite well, and sniffed the air. She reconized the scent that belonged to Thornfoot. Smiling and crept up to the island. Slowly climbing up the island, her paws making no noise, she sat behind him. "What brings you here Thornfoot?" She asked the tom, her body still soaking wet. As she sat there, she started to lick her damp fur down, back to its original position. She was able to get most of the mud off, minus the taste left in her mouth, and her fur shined in the sun and water still on her. She gently brushed her tail around her paws as she sat there, looking at the tom with her green/yellow eyes full of worry and leadership.

By his side, the frog made no reply to his remark, and Tornfoot was fine with that. His tail flicked aside, away from where the tiny green animal sat. Just then, by the call of his name behind him, both he and the frog were startled. Unlike himself, though, the frog jumped up and dove into the murky marsh water. Tornfoot, allowing his fur to settle, gave a moment to watch it go. He turned, fixing his expression so it was blank and not twisted into a frown, and met the eyes of Lightningstar. Tornfoot eyes widened slightly, he straightened his shoulders, not expecting the she-cat to be here. He then noticed, along with calling his name, she had asked why he was here. Tornfoot wondered if he should be asking the same thing but set the thought aside, she was probably in the same situation as himself... Attempting to deal with some incurable lack of sleep. Tornfoot cleared his throat and said, while keeping his voice low enough as to not wake anyone else, "Just enjoying an early morning stroll, Lightningstar." He dipped his head out of respect and turned his body to face her, he noticed how bright her golden eyes were in comparison to the dark world around them, "I take it you are doing the same?"
