They hold more emotion than one might expect. They are stunning when his emotions are calm, but very much alert when he is paranoid. Pelt color: Black with white Markings: Think of an Oreo, or an Ice cream Sandwich. That is how Batnose is. His back end is all black, except for his hind feet and his head is 90% black as well, excluding the stripe on his nose and bottom jaw. The rest of him has the masking color of white. Height: 10 inches Weight: 9 pounds ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Likes: herbs, and their smells, Moonpaw, StarClan, new-leaf, crabs Dislikes: lazy days, omens, being alone, leaf-bare, frogs, the unknown
Full Personality:Around Moonpaw, Batnose is a little bit calmer and less jittery than he is around other cats. Moonpaw relaxes Batnose, giving him a side rarely anyone has seen since he was a kit. At first he was very quiet and unsure how to handle having an apprentice of his own. But with Moonpaw's nature skill and love for her job makes Batnose feel at ease and that he his doing his job right. It helps that Moonpaw is an excellent learner since Batnose is inexperienced at teaching.
He's a gentle tom overall, showing compassion for every cat excluding a few. He does his job well and usually is in his "happy place" when doing such. He doesn't talk much when mending up the sick and injured, which is somewhat of a downside, resulting in his inexperience at teaching. If he were to walk the sick and injured through what he was doing it would surely help in his teachings with his apprentice. He likes quiet settings, enjoying the peaceful days when no one is sick or injured. Though, he can always find something to do, even if it's simply just checking up on everyone.
Watch out when Batnose gets nervous though. He stutters a little, normally, on a good day but he gets worse when he is nervous, sometimes being unable to say what he has to say. He is sometimes forced to take a poppy seed or two to calm himself down long enough to speak clearly. He is jumpy, paranoid and a little awkward at the best of times. Usually his mind is elsewhere when he gets startled, even by his apprentice.
Batnose is extremely accepting of other cats, young, old, weak, strong, Clan cat, loner, even a rogue or two he might accept them. It can be a downside and an upside depending on how you look at it. He believes everyone should have a chance to go to StarClan and be with the loved ones who have passed on again. He's a huge believer in StarClan and is both scared of them and needy of them. He likes to ask questions despite the fact that he is afraid of the wrong, or rather, bad answer. He turns to StarClan at the oddest of times to ask simple questions that they rarely reply to. He doesn't usually expect an answer and sometimes just wants to talk to them.
He is a big believer in the medicine cat rules. He would never take on a mate; well, actually he would probably be too skittish to even find a she-cat willing to put up with it. Though he does find love in what he does and is "married" to his job. He couldn't see himself being anything else and would rather die a medicine cat than die a medicine cat turned warrior because of stupid and selfish actions brought on by "love". I guess you could say Batnose doesn't very much like that word when describing others not within his close family, apprentice, Clan or his job. It just doesn't cross his mind that he could possibly have a different life than what he has now, seeing as he practically lived in the medicine cat's den since birth.
Birth Day: February 27th Birth Clan: MarshClan Family: Both his parents are senior warriors, almost ready to be elders, his siblings (two sisters) are both warriors of MarshClan. But his brother resides with StarClan now.
History:Batnose had a rocky start to life. He was born the smallest in the litter and by far the weakest. He lived in the medicine cat's den for almost all of his kithood because of it. He didn't grow much and considering the season was leaf-bare, that shortage of food didn't help any. His mother provided him with all the milk he could want, but that was only provided when she actually had some. She was running low because of the lack of prey and her body weight dropped drastically after giving birth to her large litter of four kits. The other three kits seemed to be doing alright, but one managed to catch greencough, dying during the night. It was devastating but expected during leaf-bare. Batnose's mother felt bad for giving birth to her kits in such a harsh season; she blamed herself for Batnose's unpredictable health and her one kit's death. The other two kits stayed with her constantly and was under the watchful eyes of the whole Clan. They were healthy and bouncy kits, excluding Batnose, who resided within the medicine cat's den. When he wasn't there though, he was with the elders, trying to keep as warm and healthy as he could.
By the time new-leaf rolled around, Batnose was strong enough to return to the nursery while his siblings were close to becoming apprentices. He was told that he was to remain within the nursery, medicine cat's den or the elders den until he was strong enough to preform the duties of an apprentice. Seeing as he was most comfortable in the medicine cat's den, Batnose returned there. He helped the medicine cat around the den, keeping things organized and bringing out herbs when needed. It dawned on the leader, medicine cat and his parents that it would probably be best if he became a medicine cat apprentice. It was true though, he loved the job and after developing a little bit of a fear to the outside world, it was a perfect job for him. He didn't go out of the camp without protection of warrior or the medicine cat and he usually stayed close to the den, in case herbs were needed. Batnose developed a phobia of many things. He stayed clear of the water, only to quickly grab whatever herb was growing close by. He also became a rather jumpy apprentice. Even the sound of his name would make him jump out of his fur sometimes. It wasn't a healthy habit, but it wasn't something others wanted to deal with.
He got his full name at seventeen moons old. His suffix was given to him because of his natural gift at tracking down herbs. Everyone was proud of him but his paranoia and phobias didn't really change, but everyone learned to cope with it, especially Batnose. Although he was now considered a full medicine cat, he always had the help of his mentor, who still continued to teach him things. It was when he turned twenty-nine moons that his mentor joined StarClan, leaving the Clan during a small outbreak of greencough. His mentor was weak and didn't feel like fighting it off. His mentor told him that he would be the best medicine cat in MarshClan. But that never reassured Batnose at all. Without his mentor around, Batnose became a little more jittery, but also a little more confident when leaving the camp. He pushed through some of his phobias but was requested to take on an apprentice to help him around.
That was when Moonkit asked him for the spot. He was not picking an apprentice for awhile and the thought sort of terrified him. He would be responsible for her future. He would have to teach her everything he knew and if he didn't it would affect his Clan. But she was eager to be apart of the medicine cat life and despite his fears for her future being in his paws, Batnose could not say no. Being as she was not from Clan blood, Batnose saw no reason not to accept. It would show not only MarshClan but the other Clans too that any cat, Clan cat or not, that they could become a big part of the Clan and help them through the toughest times of their lives. So he welcomed her, noticing with help he felt less skittish and paranoid, but still jumpy as ever.
